Heritage Geocache Trail
During the week of the Festival of British Archaeology 12-19th July, a limited number of handheld GPS's will be available on loan from the National Trust's Porth y Swnt centre in Aberdaron. These have been kindly loaned for the week by Edge of Wales Walking Holidays. A form of deposit will be required for the loan.
We recommend starting the walk in Aberdaron and completing the walk in a clockwise direction.
Exit the National trust car park by its western gate to the beach at SH 1716 2644.
Walk along the beach if the tide is low, and take the steps up at the north western corner of the beach to rejoin the path at step 3.
If the tide is high follow the path that zigzags up the cliff.
To find the Geocaches, located at heritage sites along the All Wales Coastal path between Aberdaron and Mynydd Mawr, either download the Geocache App from the App Store or pick up a handheld GPS unit from Porth y Swnt centre. The GPS coordinates will form the basis of this treasure hunt, guiding you to each, location along the path to the heritage sites.
In each cache is an item. In keeping with the spirit of geocaching please swap the item when you find it. Then record on http://www.geocaching.com/ when you found it and what you swapped it with. There will be a special item in each cache to start the trail off!
This initiative is a partnership between Cymdeithas Archaeoleg a Hanes Llŷn/ Llŷn Archaeology and History Society, Edge of Wales Walking Holiday, The National Trust (Porth y Swnt), Amgueddfa Forwrol Llŷn / Llŷn Maritime Museum and Aberdaron Link.
