Its A Bugs Life! By Kevin Shepherd
Kim who is staying in one of our Platinum Sea View Holiday Homes this week sent us in a photo of a little visitor that had landed on their veranda! It’s a Puss Moth.
The eccentric beauty of the Puss moth caterpillar, turns into an elegant Puss moth. The Puss moth is covered with soft cat-like fur, hence the name Puss moth. The striking nature of the beautiful black and grey marbled markings, make it quite an easy moth to identify.
Any interesting wildlife on or around the park we are always keen to hear about, we have on ongoing commitment on planting to attract birds, bees, butterflies and many other types of wildlife to maintain our David Bellamy Gold Award.
With gardens being created with wild flowers, Bug Houses, Bat and Bird Boxes around the park we all believe in doing our bit here at Pakefield Caravan Park also encouraging our owners and guests to contribute also.
The park has a close relationship with the Suffolk Wildlife Trusts Carlton Marshes in Oulton broad and offer many activities throughout the year regular activities include:
- Children's activities: wildlife sessions just for children
- Family activities: for adults and children together
- Young wardens: practical conservation activities for 10-15's
- Wild days: hands-on natural history sessions for older children and teens
- Wildlife Watch clubs: local weekend groups
Carlton Marshes is only a 10 minute drive from the Park and is well worth a visit with the children over any school holidays or just the weekend. Should you require any more information the web address is: http://www.suffolkwildlifetrust.org/carltonmarshes
