The Welsh name for Snowdonia is Eryri, which is a reference to the population of Eagles that once lived in the highlands and hills.
Within Snowdonia, you will find 15 mountains that reach over 3000ft (914.4m), including the highest peak in England and Wales, Snowdon at 3559 ft (1085m). They are also close enough to each other, that it is possible to reach all 15 within 24 hours, a challenge known as the Welsh 3000s. #mountains #railways

The National Park’s 23 miles of coastline is a Special Area of Conservation, containing dune systems, and large areas of the park are designated Sites of Special Scientific Interest, nature reserves and Special Protection Areas. In Northern Snowdonia, you will find the Snowdon lily and Snowdon beetle, the only place to find the species in Britain.
