Always a good place to start, the Urdd National Eisteddfod 2014 is being held at Rhiwlas fields in Bala, Meirionnydd between Monday, May 26 and Saturday, May 31. The postcode for the site is LL23 7DN.
The annual event, which celebrates all things Welsh, returns for Whitsun half term (Monday, May 26 - Saturday, May 31).
So what exactly is the Urdd National Eisteddfod?
The Urdd National Eisteddfod is an annual cultural festival that focuses on the Welsh language and the youthful talent that the country has to offer. The week-long event sees 15,000 children and young people compete in activities such as singing, dancing and performing, along with art, design, technology and literature.
Participants are on top form too, having earned their place through local and regional rounds with more than 40,000 competitors.
What to expect from the Eisteddfod and what's on?
The Urdd National Eisteddfod attracts over 100,000 visitors each year, so you're in good company.
Welsh is the official language of the Eisteddfod, and as such, all programmes and activities are presented through this medium. Don't worry if you're not fluent, non-Welsh speakers and learners alike are encouraged to attend, as a free translation service is available in the Pavilion. Bilingual volunteers will also be dotted around the Maes to keep you in the loop with what's on.
All the competitive action will be in the Pavilion, with events taking place daily. With almost 400 competitions, covering everything from dance and drama to poetry and public speaking, there really is plenty to watch. You can view the full programme of events and the syllabus on the Eisteddfod website.
And that's not all, outside of the Pavilion, there's lots of other family-friendly entertainment to enjoy. The Maes itself is home to hundreds of stalls that are great for browsing, as well as sports sessions including biking and climbing, and a brilliant fun fair.
Depending on how long you want to stay and when you want to attend, both day and week tickets are available. These field tickets will give you access to the full Maes site, with entry into the Pavilion. Please note, there are certain evening concerts and competitions, which require separate tickets.
Day tickets are £10 per adult, £4 for children and competitors, and £24/£28 for family tickets (2 adults and 2/3 children). Week tickets are £50 per adult, £20 for children and competitors, and £130/£149 for family tickets (2 adults and 2/3 children).
